Loved the podcast. Lots of great info.
However, when I heard you say that coffee and cacao are actually legumes I was skeptical. Some quick searching around seems to indicate that people think they are NOT legumes. Do you have any sources saying they are?

    Thanks!

The coffee bean is not a legume. It is a seed of the coffee plant. Same thing with chocolate- it is a seed, not a legume. To imply that drinking coffee is the same as drinking “bean juice” is ridiculous! Many people have trouble digesting chocolate and coffee not because they are “beans” but because coffee and chocolate cross-react with gluten. The Paleo Mom website explains this and how it can be troublesome for those with auto-immune disorders..

Catching up on the podcasts here, but one thing this guy got wrong was his gripe against coffee and chocolate being legumes.

They’re not legumes. They’re seeds. Seeds from a fruit. Not beans. We just call them that.

I don’t know why Mark let this play without editing that part, or why the interviewer didn’t call him on it.

Can you link the source for the claim that the government banned the sale of grains at one point in the 1940s? Very interesting but I’d never heard it before and would love further information on that.
